I’m Layla, and I’m delighted that you’re visiting. If you’ve been following my YouTube channel, you’re probably wondering who I am and what I do. So let me tell you a little about myself.
I was born to a down to earth Syrian home in Abu Dhabi, which is the lesser known sister city of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Though not religious or spiritual in any way, my family always had an attitude of gratitude and humility. Life in the UAE was generous and comfortable, and my family was pretty typical of its time and place. There was nothing really special about my upbringing except the fact that my parents are erudite and well-read people with exceptional refinements in the arts. So, we speak several languages and enjoyed a variety of extra-curricular activities.
But I didn’t quite catch on to serious literature until years later when I became a student of philosophy. It was during that time in university that I discovered a variety of topics, from the popular to the occult, that influence every area of my life today.
Reading between the lines
I realized through my studies of the classics that philosophers write discreetly and that one must read closely between the lines to understand the many nuances of the subjects they treat. I quickly saw that our modern interpretation of classical texts is skewed by the scientific dogma of the day. Academia turns a blind eye to facts like Descartes’s spiritual treatise of the pineal gland and Boyle’s initiation into the mysteries despite being a distinguished physicist.
I delved into this hidden literature (what Foucault calls “repressed knowledges”) and discovered many topics including all esoteric matters like divination and alchemy, but also alternative medicine, alternative theories of evolution, and other scientific topics that didn’t make it into the mainstream despite their equally sound footing.
Road to spirituality
Naturally, I discovered the Tarot and spent a lot of time on it. I’m fluent in it as well as several other divination techniques, including numerology, Feng Shui, symbolic sight, and more obscure methods like transatuaumancy (I still double check the spelling!). But Lenormand’s deck is by far my favorite method because of its fluidity.
My studies also led me to all matters law of attraction, affirmations, and natural medicine. I healed myself from several medical conditions with affirmations only, and transformed my life by decluttering and implementing other proactive personal development techniques. Food has been a lifelong adventure and I never tire from discovering new ways of being healthy. In addition to being a professional Lenormand reader, I’m a career counselor, a Feng Shui practitioner, and a decluttering and affirmations expert. I’m mostly raw vegan and practice ashtanga yoga, with a commitment to a peaceful lifestyle. All these philosophies have found their way into my divination practice, which make it uniquely empowering.
I don’t have a ritualistic or superstitious approach to my practice. Instead, Lenormand is a natural part of my life and I dialogue with my cards like I would with a good friend. Sometimes conversations are light, and sometimes serious. I can honestly say that my cards are a true companion. Through my intimate understanding of affirmations and the law of attraction, I’ve chosen to infuse my cards with intelligent advice that’s essential to nurture creativity and free will. It’s fun to predict the future, but I don’t prioritize forecasting accuracy. What I really care to bring to you through my practice is a spark of inspired insight to help you consciously create your life.
With Love & Clarity,
Layla, The Lenormand Reader
