TERRA LENORMAND

decks & authors Mar 03, 2025

Hi, everyone. Welcome back to the channel. Thank you as always for tuning back in. If you're new here, welcome. I'm Layla, the Lenormand Reader, and I use the amazing Lenormand deck. So I have a look at the links that I have for you so you can explore and master this amazing deck. Welcome to another deck review. I've been introducing a few new decks this year and I'm very happy to do this because I think it's time for a bit of change. And today I'll be reviewing the very beautiful Terra Lenormand.

So the Terra Lenormand is by a design company called Bouchette Designs. And I think there is a person behind this, I think a person I mean behind this lovely design organization. So we see here that it is the Terra Lenormand and it is the second edition of this deck. So it sounds like she produced another one, a first one, and we have here the logo of Bouchette designs. So a very lovely little card here. We'll look at these in a bit.

It comes in this box. It is a simple carton box and I personally like this format because it's very easy to carry. You don't really worry about it opening. Yes, it can wear with time. It's not a hard box, but it is more on the minimalistic side. So it just comes in this simple little box here and it comes with a nice wrapper, you know a paper wrapper and I think a few stickers. And we have here the name of the deck. So very simple box that it comes in. And from the get-go, we see that this is a floral design. So the theme of this deck is very much floral and you will see that it is very creative and very rich. So let's put this aside and let's look at the cards and then I will look at these extra cards here.

CARD BY CARD

There's a few extra cards from the deck. So there isn't a lot to go through with this deck review. It is mainly the cards. So let's go ahead one by one.

This is the rider and the rider is actually a bird. And you will find that the birds in this deck are very much an element that is recurrent. We have the number and the pip, and in the middle, we have the name of the card. We have a frame and it's all on a white background. And the back of the card is floral. We have this lovely design and it is clear from the card that it is upright or reversed. So here is the Rider, a lovely bird here. It might initially be confusing because everyone's used to seeing a horse, a person riding a horse as the Rider. So a bit of a different twist in the Terra Lenormand.

Here is the Clover. I think this card is pretty clear. It stands out nicely on the card. I like the white. It works for me to use these cards on camera better than other decks.

Here is the Ship, and this is a flying ship as well. I think the Gilded Reverie also had a flying ship. So again, very clear on the card.

Here is the House, of course, with a floral design. So wherever it makes sense to have flowers, they're in there. We have a moon in the background at the top and some birds. So a very clear representation.

This is the Tree, and it's a bit of a different take on the tree. It's more of a pattern as opposed to an actual tree. So another lovely card. Nice colors. I like the pink in here.

Here is the Clouds, and we have the darker clouds at the bottom and the lighter clouds at the top. Normally, it's left and right, but in the Terra Lenormand, we have a bit of a different twist. And you know the distinction between light and dark is not always captured in illustrations, and authors might not always refer to this distinction. I personally don't. I think it comes down to the combination with the card. Really nice pink and light orange here at the top.

Here is the Snake, a very beautiful Snake, and a very clear Snake on a white background. I really like this twisting here. And we've got some leaves as part of the Snake’s design patterns. So again, very much a focus on the floral aspect here. And even the Snake itself, I think you can sort of see that on camera. It's decorated with these lovely flowers and this floral pattern. So a really cute Snake after all.

Here is the Coffin. I think the Coffin is really clear in the center, and then there's all sorts of floral patterns around it and even itself is decorated. So I think it's pretty clear. It's one of the busier cards in the deck, but it is quite clear.

Here is the Bouquet or the Flowers. This is a typical representation, except there's a sort of a cute kind of take on the flowers. And I think it's pretty clear that it represents the flowers. Here is the size, also a very beautiful card and quite clear. And of course, the wheat and this reaping indication in the cards. We've got two butterflies, very cute.

Here is the Whip, also very clear on a white background and also decorated in these cute flowers. So a really nice theme. Even on the more challenging cards, I think the flowers, they give it that lighter energy.

Here is the Birds, and we have a few of them. This is a darker background, unlike many of the cards. So a bit of a different take here, a bit of a different design. And we have an interesting star in the middle. So a very beautiful card.

Here is the Child, and the Child is represented like a kid, and there are some butterflies around. Butterflies are also recurrent. We've got a scarf on the Child, and there's a floral design in here. Now, the Bouchette design has a different card, an alternative card, for the Child, and it is called the Child energy. So it's just a big flower, and it represents the Child energy. And there's a similar idea for female energy and for male energy. So these are going to be alternatives for the Man and Woman cards. So here is an alternative Child card, a really cute take on the design.

And next is the Fox, a very beautiful Fox. There's sort of these fall leaves around the Fox, which work well with the colors of the Fox. I think I've seen this as well in the Gilded Reverie where the Fox inspires the fall colors.

Here is the Bear, a very cute Bear. I think that's a big bee or a bumble bee next to the Bear, and it's sitting in front of a bouquet. So again, a very clear card.

Here is the Stars on a darker background, on a night background. We have a bunch of stars, and again, a very playful kind of design.

Here is the stork. Again, another busier card, a bit like the Coffin, where you have the symbol in the middle and a floral pattern all around. We have a couple of birds at the top. We have a bigger butterfly here and a moon, a crescent here on the side. So that's the Stork.

Here is the Dog, very cute, holding a flower in its mouth and a couple of birds on its head. Another clear card, here's a shadow cast by the Dog. Very interesting. So a very cute and clear card.

Here is the Tower. I initially felt that it looked more like a house, but it's actually the Tower. It's interesting how it sits on a flying rock. And of course, we've got the floral patterns in here. There are these structures here that make it look more like a tower. So that's the Terra Lenormand Tower.

Here is the Garden, a bunch of flowers on a darker background. I think the darker background helps to distinguish it from other floral patterns on other cards.

And this is the Mountain. Again, a very playful kind of design and very clear on a white background.

And here is the Road. I find this card a little bit confusing at first because I thought it was a magnifying glass, and I think it is. And it magnifies a Road from the top, and we see that it goes in different directions. So this always alludes to the idea of choices and being at crossroads when it comes to the Road. And in the Terra Lenormand, the card is called Crossroads. I personally call it the Road.

Here are the Mice. This is a card where the main symbol of the card is not as big as the design. So we have a couple of mice here, and they're smaller than the flowers in the middle. I personally prefer when the main symbol is dominating in the design, but it is part of the overall theme of this lovely deck.

Here is the Heart. We've got the Heart in the middle, and we've got this beautiful floral pattern around it. And a couple of birds here. They look like hummingbirds to me. And we do have a smaller heart within the Heart. It's kind of a really cute design.

Here is the Ring and it's a nice large Ring, which is my preference. We've got a colorful diamond shape here and it's all decorated. So a very pretty card.

Here is the Book, another lovely card with the Book in the middle and this floral arrangement around it and a bunch of stars. So it's a very engaging card, I think, and very lovely as well.

Here is the Letter, also really cute. We've got a couple of hands holding the Letter, these leaves and some colors in the background. And this is a lovely butterfly. So a very clear and very pretty representation of the letter.

Here is the Man, which is called Male. And it's a very cute-looking guy with a mustache and a beard and some red glasses and all these butterflies around him. It's a very acute angle as well. He's sort of looking up. So a very interesting and very cute and different take on the man. And here is Female. Here's a young woman with some flowers on her hair and some leaves floating around in a very cute skirt. So, a very cute pair, I think.

And actually, these two cards have alternatives as well. She's got flowers to represent them. So this is Male Energy. Let me put these down. This is the Male Energy card. It's a nice big flower. I'm not sure what the name of this flower is, but it looks familiar to me. It's a strong red and purple. And Female Energy are these flowers as well. I think these are... I forget what these are called. I can't recall it right now, but these are familiar. And I know them in white as well. So this is the Female Energy of the card. So a very interesting take and a very cute alternative to the standard Male and Female. And like we said, it's these three cards that have alternatives. So the people cards. We have the Child, the Female, and the Male. So these are the Male and Female cards.

And the next one is the Lily, also very nice and clear. I really like the color combination. There's a nice range of purples here that go really well with the darker green. And it's very different from the bouquet. So sometimes some decks can confuse a little bit the design between the Lily and the Bouquet, but in this case, it's quite clear.

Here is the Sun, and this lovely Sun is in pink. We have a bright pink circle. And in the middle, there's some dots here and all of the rays coming out of it. So it fills up the whole card. A very different take on the Sun, a very brilliant color for it as well.

And here is the Moon. Again, it fills up the whole card. There's a night sky and some flowers here and a Moon is full. Many decks will represent the moon as a crescent, including my own. Here it's a full one and it's easy to distinguish it from the sun because of the very strong difference in colors. So another very lovely card.

Here is the Key. It's such a pretty concept this one, where you have a flower just coming out of the Key. I think this is a poppy. It looks like a poppy to me. And the Key at the bottom here is so elaborate. And I think it's pretty clear overall. So a really interesting take on the Key.

Here is the Fish card, and I think this is a lovely one as well. We have these, they look like the Chinese or the Japanese fish to me. I forget their name. And it is on a dark background, which is probably the water, and there are stars in the middle. So it does have an element of abundance, I think, a really nice design.

Here is the Anchor, another nice one. We've got the Anchor. I think that comes out clearly. And then we have these flowers that come out of it. And then in a very light color, we have the moon and star. We have a crescent at the bottom and a star at the top. So another really nice design.

Here is the cross, and I think this is a card that could be confused with the Tree. It certainly confused me initially at first, and I think I would have liked it to be a bit different so that we can distinguish them more easily. So here's the Tree.

And this is the Cross. So I would have preferred if there were less leaf situations around it so that the Cross in the middle can stand out. I don't know if you can see this well, but the cross is here. We've got these floral ends and the top three, and the bottom is the roots. So I think the concept of it growing out of the roots is really nice, but having fewer leaves or decorative leaf elements around it would help distinguish it from the Tree. Of course, you'll get used to it really quickly. And also the color patterns are really different. So that's the cards of the Terra Lenormand. And like I said, there are these three additional cards for the people cards.

INFORMATION CARDS

Now, the deck doesn't come with a booklet, but it comes with a few information cards. I think this is the printing company card. It's like a cover card, it tells you that this is the Terra Lenormand Second Edition and the design. This is a welcome note and a thank you note and a well-wishing from the author, which I think is a really nice gesture. And this is a very brief introduction to the Terra Lenormand, that it's made up of 36 cards. It talks a little bit about the design and the imagery. So another really nice gesture here.

And then we have three cards that offer the card's meaning. So they're very short and brief, probably an excellent starting point if you're not familiar with Lenormand because it's always helpful to start with keywords. And also, the author puts the name of the card and then the neutral, positive, or negative value of the cards.

I call this the card effects. So for example, she says the rider is neutral, the Clover is positive, the Ship is neutral, etc and then a list of keywords. So I think there are some slight differences between me and this author in terms of the effects of the card. I tend to see the Ship as positive. It has an abundance element and the rider as well. The Tree is neutral, yes, it can be neutral.

It's interesting to look at these different authors and how they see the cards. Let's take a few examples of keywords. Let's go for the Scythe. So the Scythe is negative. It suggests danger, harvest, urgency, accidents, warnings, violence, liberation, and being hasty. Now, the idea of harvest and liberation, I think, would be positive. So I generally see the Scythe as neutral because it's more of an action card. And I think the nearby cards can give us a lot more information about what the Scythe is doing.

The Whip, on the other hand, is negative. I think all authors agree on this. It suggests anger, something repetitive. A lot of authors see it this way. It can point to debate, can be abuse, conflict, tension, confrontation, pain, and strife. So some pretty typical keywords with the Whip.

Let's look at the Stork. The Stork is positive. It suggests transformation, new ideas, moving, birth changes, productivity, and relocation. So another pretty typical list of keywords. So some really helpful keywords here with the Terra Lenormand. Great for a starting point and you definitely grow your interpretive imagination from there.

Let's look at the Moon. The Moon can be one of those cards that isn't always clear. The Terra Lenormand sees the moon as positive and it points to recognition, intuition, dreams, emotions, the subconscious and passion. So very nice keywords here for the Moon.

So that's it for the Terra Lenormand. It's perhaps a shorter review, but a very beautiful deck. I have to say that the one thing that stands out to me is that the cards are a little bit sticky. So maybe this will loosen up in time or with use. I find them a little bit sticky when it comes to just sifting through them or selecting the cards. But I think the carton is quite strong and the cards are really beautiful. I like matte in general. It's not glossy and I tend to like that and the designs are really, really charming.

I think this is going to be a keeper for me. I think I'll be using this on the videos on our weekly and monthly because they stand out pretty well on either background. So this is my lighter background. It's my new background. And I also have the deep purple one. So I think this is going to be a keeper for us on the channel. Again, let me know how you like this Terra Lenormand. Leave me your thoughts and comments. Thank you very much for tuning into this review. And until next time, take very good care of yourself.
