Marie Anne Adelaide Lenormand (1772-1843) was a high profile French fortune teller. She read for numerous political figures including Robespierre, Empress Josephine, and Tsar Alexander I. She is said to have predicted serious political events including the French Revolution and the fall of Napoleon, causing numerous public controversies and landing her in jail on several occasions.

Her most popular deck, Le Petit Jeu, consists of 36 cards and is named after her. Its cards are designed to be read in combination. You can read more about Mlle Lenormand here.

Mlle. Lenormand has a couple of decks - it is said - but her most famous one is the Petit Jeu, which is the one commonly known as the Lenormand deck and that Lenormand Reader teaches.

The Petit Jeu is 'petit' or small, because it is made up of only 36 cards, and the cards are numbered 1-36. The illustrations are every day symbols and are very easy to connect with.

The deck has its quirks though, namely the suites that correspond to each card. They are the usual hearts, clubs, diamonds, and spades, but because there are only 36 cards, the Petit Jeu includes only the aces, 6-10, jacks, queens, and kings. So they exclude numbers 5-9 and knights.

There are big differences between Lenormand and the Tarot, although they are not obvious from the get-go.

From a superficial point of view, the 36-card Lenormand deck is much smaller than the 78-card Tarot deck. Lenormand's symbols are not esoteric, whereas the Tarot has plenty of occult symbols. And Lenormand cards are only read upright, whereas Tarot cards are commonly read upright and in reverse.

The deeper differences between Lenormand and the Tarot are in the reading techniques. Lenormand's cards are read in combinations, which drives Lenormand's unique Tableau-style layouts. This is very different from the Tarot, where cards are assigned a single position in a layout.

Most people who come to Lenormand with a Tarot background do not expect how unique the Lenormand experience is. I invite you to discover it!

I use a variety of decks including my own Silhouettes Deck, which is available for purchase. You can find many decks on Amazon and Etsy, so choose the ones that speak to you. One thing to keep in mind is that some authors add cards to the classical 36-card Petit Jeu. I do not use extra cards and do not teach anything about them. If you have such a deck, it is no issue at all. You can simply set aside the extra cards or use them as you like.

The Quickbook is a smaller guide that offers an overview of Lenormand, but it includes some very handy references to layouts (including the Grand Tableau and Portrait) not found in the Master Guides.

They are live sessions with Layla that deep-dive into special Lenormand topics. 

Workshops and masterclasses are available for purchase during the time leading up to the live session, but not usually after that. Sometimes, past workshops and masterclasses will be made available for sale.

Workshops and masterclasses are free for Community members and Certification Program students.

So far, they happen approximately every one to two months. So there usually are 6-8 workshops / masterclasses in a year.

When there is a new workshop or masterclass, it is announced by email, in the bi-weekly Newsletter, on social media, and in the Community.

Often, the Guidebook is immediately available to download as soon as you register, so you can look through the topic before the live session.

As we get closer to the day, reminder emails with the Zoom link are sent. And on the day, we go live on the call.

After the live session, the video recording of the session and other materials are shared with you by email so you can download them.

I offer refunds on some Lenormand Reader materials including the Master Courses and Certification Program, but not on the guides and workshops because all materials are immediately downloadable. Lenormand 101 is a short course designed to introduce you to Lenormand. It is ideal to learn about what makes Lenormand different. It covers plenty, including the card meanings, combinations, and layouts.

It includes Q&A live monthly calls with Layla, and gives you a 6-month access the online library.

The MLCC (or Master Lenormand's Cards & Combinations) is the master course that focuses on card meanings and combinations. The LLIT (or Lenormand Layouts & Interpretation Techniques) is the master courses that covers layouts and reading techniques.

The Certification Program (or LRCP) includes both the MLCC and LLIT, plus additional Certification modules and submission requirements.

If you purchase the MLCC or LLIT indivdially, you have one year access to the online hub.

If you purchase the LRCP, you have one year in total to cover all three courses (MLCC, LLIT, and Certification Program modules).

Lenormand 101 has a 6-month access to the hub as it is a shorter course designed to introduce you to Lenormand.

There is currently no organized or comprehensive body of knowledge that teaches Lenormand in the gradual and methodical way offered by Layla. This Program also appears to be the only one available in this end-to-end, robust format.

The Program is not only leading-edge and completely unique, it is also the result of 20+ years of research and practice with Lenormand. This means that you are saving yourself many months, if not years, of trying to piece together a field that is unfortunately choppy.

A course is made up of several modules. Each module has a workbook, several video lessons, and additional resources. The workbook is always attached in Unit 1 of each module, and each video lesson has a handout, a video transcription, as well as bonus materials and resources - in addition to its workbook exercises.

It makes sense to spend a few months on any course, be it Lenormand 101, MLCC, LLIT, or Certification Program modules, but you might find yourself moving through each of them faster.

You can expect to spend 2 to 4 hours on the course materials every week, considering you would be practicing readings in addition to watching the videos and doing the exercises in the workbooks.

You start at Unit 1 in Module 1, and progress sequentially through the units and modules in the order they’re presented. You have to complete all the lessons and pass all the quizzes in order to receive your certificate.

You have 2 takes at each quiz.

Yes! The hub is very easy to use. You just need to log in and click on a unit in the course menu. Downloading the materials is also very easy - you just click on the highlighted word links and the file opens in a new page. The normal progression through the courses is to start with the MLCC, then move on to the LLIT, and finally complete the LRCP modules and submission requirements.

As an LRCP or Certification Program student, it is best to submit your readings for assessment once you have had sufficient practice and feel confident about your skills.

Once you’ve selected your reading, you will be directed to the payment gateway where you can tell me about your question: What the question is, some background about it, and your timeline for it, if any. I might get back to you for some clarifications. After that, I do the reading in private, and then send you a written report of your reading.

It’s a printer-friendly PDF document that I send you by email. It includes your query and timeline, a photograph of the cards drawn, and my interpretation of the cards. The interpretation is tailored to the spread you selected and includes a helpful summary for larger readings. Different readings have different report structures and lengths.

No, I do not. I offer an optional follow up Zoom call for larger spreads, including the Mini and Grand Tableau, but this is not a substitute for the reading report.

I read in private to intuit your situation, and a written report is a better record. You can go back to it at any time, and clients say it’s more convenient than having to skip around a video recording.

Yes! Lenormand readings are great to clarify priorities and get to the heart of an issue. We can identify key concerns to draw cards for, or keep the reading open-ended and let the cards give us a starting point. Read the description of each layout type to decide which one is best for you. Get in touch if you still don’t know how best to proceed.

Not really, but I caution against questions that peek into others’ business when it doesn’t affect you, or that are ethically questionable, like asking about underhand dealings or a relationship with someone attached. If you're led to ask about such topics, I prefer that we dig into your position in this situation.

Yes. The weekly, monthly, and annual forecasts on YouTube are broad for a large audience, whereas your private reading is focused on you, with your specific circumstances in mind.

Your private reading takes precedence over general forecasts, but you can combine them if it works for you, and take into account insights from both readings.

Timelines are approximate. So, I could deliver your reading a little earlier or a little later than the said timeline. If unforeseen circumstances will delay me significantly (which has never happened thankfully), I will get in touch with you to let you know and so we can agree on how best to proceed.

Lenormand readings are not meant to replace your good sense to respond to an emergency, and it is always best to consult the cards from a space of balance and neutrality. So I suggest you first manage the urgency, then, when things have settled a little, we can inquire into your situation moving forward.

Because so much time and soul is spent on a reading, I do not offer refunds on completed readings. I would issue a refund, however, if unforeseen circumstances prevent me from completing your reading within reasonable time - which has never happened.
