The Anchor brings certainty, positivity, and strength. It’s the card of safety, security, and determination. It’s a heavy-weight object whose purpose is to secure in place, so it tells of stillness and immobility, suggesting that things should be built to last. The Anchor is solid and material in character so it makes things concrete and complete. With determination and perseverance, achievement and success are possible. But because of its association with discipline, it can represent self-imposed limitations, restriction, or rigidity.

If it falls on the first or central card placement of the nine-card portrait, the Anchor answers a query positively and suggests that success is likely and within reach. If contemplating a particular course of action, the Anchor encourages us to go for it. However, if considering a change, like changing jobs, moving homes, or moving on from a relationship, then it’s best not to make the change just yet and give things more time instead. This said, in some combinations, the Anchor can suggest that we be decisive and move on without hesitation.
